Planet Earth
05:42
|
|||
Verse 1
I labour, I strive – even ‘though I’m just alive.
Then I turn to face the sun, I get up from the floor.
I get up, then take a dive – is that the best I can contrive?
It is what it is, it is… and yet I still want more.
Chorus 1
It is time for me – it’s my rebirth.
Now I must find my way on Planet Earth.
Verse 2
I prosper, I thrive – so now it seems I’ve arrived.
I see there must be change, a time for our new lore.
I wonder, it’s my drive – and so I set off in disguise.
It is time, my friends, it’s time for me to seek out more.
Chorus 2
It is time for me, for what it’s worth
Now I must make my way on Planet Earth.
Verse 3 (crescendo)
Full of hubris, that’s my jive – to hell and back with a high five.
We’re gonna bend this life around because we know it all.
Soft Chorus/intro
I never believed in fate, and I am still not sure.
But if there’s no answers here, what’s this all been for?
Instrumental/Solo
Repeat Chorus 1 and 2

Verse 1
What will the world be like?
Will it be calm and fair?
Will she bring me peace, will she drive me to despair?
Verse 2
What will the world be like?
Will it be the purest light?
Will she bring me hope or leave me in the night?
Chorus 1
What will I say to her
To make the blue sky shine?
What will she think of me
If I try to make her mine?
Chorus 2
What did I say to her
To turn her blue sky bleak?
When our deal was made
Why did I try to make her weak?
Verse 3
What will the world be like?
Will it be some kind of hell?
Now I’ve lost her trust, are there any tales to tell?
Verse 4
What will the world be like?
Will there be a place for me?
Will she bring me peace if I find some empathy?
Chorus 3
What can I say to her
To make her blue sky shine?
What does she think of me
When her eyes gaze at mine?

If Only Trees Could Talk
04:40
|
|||
Verse 1
If only trees could talk, and they had no fear,
Then they would surely walk to be companionably near.
When the world was new, we were part of the play,
Then our dominion grew, and we found our new way.
Chorus 1
We made the forests pay now (pay now)
We made the forests pay now (…made them pay).
Verse 2
If only trees could smile, and they had no regret,
They would sway all the while in a rustic minuet.
But you could feel in the breeze not everything was well -
Something in the look of the trees, a spicy tang in the autumn smell.
...Just a hint in the autumn smell.
Chorus 2
Can we find a way to care now? (care now)
Will we work out how now? (work out how)
If the world was changed (care now)
Could it be arranged? (we'll work out how)
Verse 3
If only trees could talk, and they had no fear,
Then they would surely walk
Far away from here…
Far away from here…
Far away from here.

A Time For Heroes
07:01
|
|||
Verse 1
In ancient Babylon, Hammurabi came up with his law.
With the best of intentions, he just couldn’t seem to see the glaring flaw.
Peace was the aim, and while we all still hold him in awe,
He was the first to protect the rich at the expense of the poor.
Chorus 1
Surely now it’s time for a change.
Time to face into the wind and the rain.
We need heroes now who can make their mark.
When change begins, it begins with a spark.
Chorus 2
Can you feel it now? The change in the air
Time for a world that is just and fair.
Are we heroes? Are we fools?
We are the ones to rewrite these rules.
Verse 2
Through all the ages we’ve been told we need the rule of law
Even though sometimes we seem to forget what these rules are really for.
Now who amongst us is prepared to argue that it is right,
That where you’re born determines all of your chances in life.
Repeat Chorus 1 and 2
Counterpoint
Surely now it’s time for a…time for a change.
Time to face into the wind and the rain.
We need heroes now who can…who can make their mark.
When change begins it begins with a spark.
Can you feel it now? Can you… feel the change in the air?
Time for a world that is just and fair.
Are we heroes or are we…or are we fools?
It’s simply time to change these rules.
Crescendo
Can you feel it now - don’t you feel it?
Are we heroes? Are we fools?
We are the ones to rewrite these rules.

Pure Land
07:01
|
|||
Verse 1
I met her in the summer of my twenty-seventh year.
I knew that I’d met someone untroubled by pain or fear.
“You must find your own Pure Land”, was what she said to me.
“It is only in the New World you will learn to be free.”
Verse 2
So, I set off for the Pure Land, without a plan to call my own.
I kept shaking out the problem like a dog with a bone.
I had a picture of the New World – I’d heard where it could be.
To the setting sun, I laid my course, from now to eternity.
Verse 3
But then life intervened - I turned away from my quest.
In the midst of distraction, we’re not always at our best.
I was reminded of the New World, one long day by the sea,
Called by the waves that washed so softly over me.
Verse 4
Within reach of the Pure Land. I can taste it in the breeze.
For just a brief moment, let me shelter in the trees.
Caught a glimpse of the New World - just a colour in my mind.
Almost made it to the end now. Who knows what I will find?
Riposte
Who knows where they’re going or where it will end?
All you can do is just watch out! Watch out! Watch out for that next bend.
Who knows where they’re going or even where they’re from?
All I know is when it’s time to go, you will get there in the end.
Verse 5
So close to the Pure Land. My journey's almost done.
I always knew I would make it to the land of the setting sun.
Could this be the New World? A different point of view -
Where the pure white clouds move freely in an endless sea of blue.
